AISD Delivers on Expansion at Alvarado Junior High

The addition at Alvarado Junior High (AJH) allowed AISD to address student growth and begin a grade realignment process.

The expansion at AJH, which was part of the campus master plan when designed in 2013, added approximately 29,000 square feet to the existing facility. It provided capacity for an additional 300 students and included classrooms, science labs, collaboration spaces and restrooms.

The additional space has allowed 6th grade students to attend the junior high, which then allows 3rd grade students to attend Alvarado Intermediate School, creating room for the growing student population at the district’s three elementary schools.

The project finished on time and on budget.

The bond election was approved by voters in November 2019. The Alvarado Junior High expansion included a new academic wing and a fine arts addition.
